This is a pic of my mom, Mary Lou. I find myself getting a bit emotional when I look at her. At 18, she had already experienced many life hardships…the death of her father, extreme child labor, poverty, heartache and limited education opportunities. She didn’t know that in the years to come, she’d make significant decisions that would carve a path for her daughters to thrive. Every challenge she faced presented choices to choose more of the same familiar pain or move in new paths that would bring life to her and generations following. She chose generosity over scarcity, boldness over insecurity and faith over fear. Her decisions guided by her love for Jesus changed the trajectory of our family and serve as an example to me on those days I almost feel catatonic by life. But choose she did and choose I must. So much of our tomorrows depend on the small, incremental choices we make today. I’m reaping the fruit of her good choices planted in an unseen future. Thank you for your strength and bravery, Mom. I’m forever grateful.
