I’m typing this while “West Wing” plays in the background. It seems President Bartlett has been keeping a secret from the White House staff and the American people. Now counsel has to figure out what to do… I’m mentally pacing with Oliver Babish…but alas, I digress and must pack.

We had 24 hours from our Texas trip to turn around laundry, paperwork, life in general and get ourselves in the HHR and head Southeast. It seems more than just two Mortons were wearing thin on tread. We also put new tires on Ol’ Stella (the HHR), along with brakes, caliper thingies, and a plethora of other mechanical what-nots. I could probably use one of those maintenance days, too. Though I doubt I could be whipped into shape so quickly.

Six months down, six to go. We only get to see most of our friends every 5 years so every mile is worth it. It’s a different kind of life with difficult separations and a sometimes rigorous pace, but it’s oh so rich with friends and family who cheer, support, love from the depth of their hearts and “get” our work in Africa.

We are grateful beyond words.

That way, God’s bright presence will be evident in everything through Jesus, and he’ll get all the credit as the One mighty in everything—encores to the end of time. Oh, yes!” 1 Peter 4:10, 11 MSG
